Doily Drawing in Blue & What I Stand For

Image
A friend of mine recently asked me what I stood for. I already knew the answer: I stand for BEAUTY -- how the BEAUTY in my art may help others experience joy and healing. This piece is the sixth in a series titled OVERLAPPING DOILIES. I adore doilies and what they do. They provide a beautiful foundation for an object, whether it be animate or inanimate. I love their feminine, decorative qualities. So here's my question for you: What do you stand for? Love, Cynthia ❤️ See my illustrations on my website, and if you could, I would love to know your thoughts on how they could be used commercially: www.cynthiamosser.com/illustrations

Every Canvas is a Journey All Its Own - Poodle Painting

Image
I adore this quote by American artist, Helen Frankenthaler. It truly describes the visual experience of looking at abstract art, especially complex ones with lots of shapes and color (like mine). My goal is to give the viewer a rich, and whimsical path to fun and happiness. This gouache (matte watercolor) piece titled "Poodle" (11 x 9 in) can be seen on my website: https://www.cynthiamosser.com/store/art_print_products/poodle-wj8-1ancgqy?product_gallery=18790&product_id=2593990 Sending love, Cynthia ❤️ www.cynthiamosser.com info@cynthiamosser.com

Star Rainbow Drawing

Image
This blue pen drawing is the third in a series of what I've titled "Star Rainbows". In starting a series like this, sometimes I feel done right away. I can feel, however, I have more to do...more to make. Love, Cynthia ❤️ See additional illustrations at: www.cynthiamosser.com/illustrations

Chance Illustration

Image
You never know what will happen when you put pen to paper. In this instance, I created the outline of this design, and started playing and experimenting. Love, Cynthia See more blue illustrations at: www.cynthiamosser.com/illustrations

Poodle, 2019

Image
This piece was created while painting at a table overlooking the ocean in Depoe Bay, OR. I often say I can feel what is going on under the water, and having a front row seat definitely helped. Love, Cynthia ❤️ It's ready for your home: "Poodle," 2019 Gouache on Museum Board 11 x 8 in Visit this piece on my website at: www.tiny.cc/poodle_mosser

Star Rainbow Flower Drawing

Image
Art and design is always a source of inspiration for me. Often, I'll see a shape, and it'll simply resonate with me. I find this shape exciting, so I repeated it in my favorite form -- a star-shaped flower. Love, Cynthia ❤️ Experience my own art and design at: www.cynthiamosser.com

Chiaroscuro Egg

Image
Every so often I'll veer away from my preferred style to see what I can come up with. When I taught drawing at the Art Institute of Portland, I had my students draw eggs with strong chiaroscuro to the various lights and drrks. In this particular drawing, I was inspired by an artist who layers paper as well. I combined the two ideas into one. Love, Cynthia ❤️ Experience more illustrations at: www.cynthiamosser.com

We're All Together in This

Image
W e are all one. As much as Covid, vaccination opinons/facts, politics can divide us, we all share something in common: WE ARE HUMAN. We all have our own issues and problems -- some more than others. Be gentle when judging other individuals, as we don't really know the full story. Be kind and loving, especially to yourself. Love, Cynthia ❤️ www.cynthiamosser.com

Willow Tree Leaves Drawing

Image
On my weekly neighborhood walk, there is one willow tree, and my head just so happened to run into it (on purpose, of course). The leaves are long, twisting and flowing, which inspired me to create this drawing. Enjoy your day. Cynthia ❤️ See more of my art at: www.cynthiamosser.com

Biomorphic Swirls & Curls

Image
What is better than taking your pen, making a bunch of swirls, then adding a biomorphic pattern? Cynthia Check out more designs at www.cynthiamosser.com

Hungarian-inspired Design

Image
I adore Hungarian embroidery, as it highly influences my work. Matyo style is my favorite because of its rustic nature, which is often seen on pillowcases. Have an excellent day. Tall Dense Grass Drawing

Image
Incorporating tall, swaying grass, of different varieties, to my front yard is a kinetic installation to which I aspire. They'll be grouped in large dense clumps, so you will see only the grass moving in the wind. Now it's time to investigate varieties! What are your feelings about grass? Love, Cynthia ❤️ See more illustrations at: www.cynthiamosser.com

My Ode to Grass

Image
As I walk around my suburban neighborhood, I notice many home owners have an obsession with the "perfect" grass: fertilized, weed-free, super green. On the opposite end of things, I see crab grass, somehow growing between the pavement and curb with no apparent water source. This is my ode to noticing grass, and grass-like shapes. Love, Cynthia ❤️ See more illustrations at: www.cynthiamosser.com

A Drawing Because of a Hike

Image
A couple of weeks ago I spent time in Newport, Oregon. Although I LOVE the beach, I also love hiking. In the middle of town there is this amazing 1-mile in and out hike with lush greenery and FERNS! Of course, I love ferns, and this is my ode to them. Circular Forms in Blue

Image
When I was a kid, my parents never feel I exercised enough. As an incentive, they made up their own jog-a-thon, and would pay me 25 cents every time I made a lap around our 1 acre yard. I did it, and don't remember how much money I made, but I never enjoyed it. Now I love exercising. Go figure. Sea-like Forms

Image
The ocean is hugely inspirational. I used to stay at a cabin at Depoe Bay, and it looked right over the water. I could even see whales blowing from the window. Although I could never experience what was under water, I felt it. Hence my sea-like forms. Love, Cynthia 💓 Learn more about my art at: www.cynthiamosser.com

Flower & Childhood Memory

Image
When I was seven, my friends and I thought it would be a great idea to jump off of a second floor balcony into the bushes below. I saw them jump and bounce right off, but when I tried it, it was more like a thud. I broke my lower leg bone, and my Dad had to take me to the emergency room. My parents had to also postpone their trip to Tahiti, but in the end, my leg healed and they went on their trip. Love, Cynthia ❤️ More illustrations abound at www.cynthiamosser.com/illustrations
