Even More Rain - A Drawing

Image
After a day of glorious sunshine, and the next day it rains, I often say, "Well, here we go again!" I have to remember the beauty of the rain. Maybe the gray sky isn't fun, but the nature...oh the lush, green nature...travel almost anywhere else, and return to the west side of the Cascade Mountains in the Pacific Northwest, and you're reminded why you live here. Because it's green, and nature makes you feel good, and rain does too. ❤ Cynthia "Water Swirls 2," 2023 Blue gel pen on acid-free paper 11 x 8.5 in (28 x 22 cm) $200 Buy it here for a Valentine's Day gift: https://buy.stripe.com/00g147cABgv99uEaF6 Cynthia Mosser Cynthia Mosser Fine Art www.cynthiamosser.com info@cynthiamosser.com #cynthiamosser #art #drawing #inkdrawing #artist #rain #bluepen #Rainflower #vancouverwashington #lineart #wavyline #pacificnorthwest #beauty #water

Handsy Flowers Drawing

Image
This is my go-to shape: biomorphic, hand-like, flower-like, and always curve-like. If I could tell you why this shape comes from my brain/hand I would. It's a form I've drawn/doodled for many years. This must mean I am working something out. I wonder what it could be. Doily Drawing in Blue & What I Stand For

Image
A friend of mine recently asked me what I stood for. I already knew the answer: I stand for BEAUTY -- how the BEAUTY in my art may help others experience joy and healing. This piece is the sixth in a series titled OVERLAPPING DOILIES. I adore doilies and what they do. They provide a beautiful foundation for an object, whether it be animate or inanimate. I love their feminine, decorative qualities. So here's my question for you: What do you stand for? Love, Cynthia ❤️ See my illustrations on my website, and if you could, I would love to know your thoughts on how they could be used commercially: www.cynthiamosser.com/illustrations

You don't have to carry the weight of the world. Do what you can, and leave the rest. May you experience peace, joy and happiness today. Love, Cynthia

Star Rainbow Series

Image
Sometimes when your design works, you just run with it and make a bunch more. In this case, my RAINBOW STAR series is showing up as a carefully arranged trio. Currently there are four in the series. ❤️ Buy these as a set at: https://www.cynthiamosser.com/star-rainbows

Star Rainbow Drawing

Image
This blue pen drawing is the third in a series of what I've titled "Star Rainbows". In starting a series like this, sometimes I feel done right away. I can feel, however, I have more to do...more to make. Love, Cynthia ❤️ See additional illustrations at: www.cynthiamosser.com/illustrations

Star Rainbow Flower Drawing

Image
Art and design is always a source of inspiration for me. Often, I'll see a shape, and it'll simply resonate with me. I find this shape exciting, so I repeated it in my favorite form -- a star-shaped flower. Love, Cynthia ❤️ Experience my own art and design at: www.cynthiamosser.com

Chiaroscuro Egg

Image
Every so often I'll veer away from my preferred style to see what I can come up with. When I taught drawing at the Art Institute of Portland, I had my students draw eggs with strong chiaroscuro to the various lights and drrks. In this particular drawing, I was inspired by an artist who layers paper as well. I combined the two ideas into one. Love, Cynthia ❤️ Experience more illustrations at: www.cynthiamosser.com

Willow Tree Leaves Drawing

Image
On my weekly neighborhood walk, there is one willow tree, and my head just so happened to run into it (on purpose, of course). The leaves are long, twisting and flowing, which inspired me to create this drawing. Enjoy your day. Cynthia ❤️ See more of my art at: www.cynthiamosser.com

Biomorphic Swirls & Curls

Image
What is better than taking your pen, making a bunch of swirls, then adding a biomorphic pattern? Cynthia Check out more designs at www.cynthiamosser.com

Tall Dense Grass Drawing

Image
Incorporating tall, swaying grass, of different varieties, to my front yard is a kinetic installation to which I aspire. They'll be grouped in large dense clumps, so you will see only the grass moving in the wind. Now it's time to investigate varieties! What are your feelings about grass? A Drawing Because of a Hike

Image
A couple of weeks ago I spent time in Newport, Oregon. Although I LOVE the beach, I also love hiking. In the middle of town there is this amazing 1-mile in and out hike with lush greenery and FERNS! Of course, I love ferns, and this is my ode to them. Circular Forms in Blue

Image
When I was a kid, my parents never feel I exercised enough. As an incentive, they made up their own jog-a-thon, and would pay me 25 cents every time I made a lap around our 1 acre yard. I did it, and don't remember how much money I made, but I never enjoyed it. Now I love exercising. Go figure. Sea-like Forms

Image
The ocean is hugely inspirational. I used to stay at a cabin at Depoe Bay, and it looked right over the water. I could even see whales blowing from the window. Although I could never experience what was under water, I felt it. Hence my sea-like forms. Love, Cynthia 💓 Learn more about my art at: www.cynthiamosser.com

Amoeba Mashup Drawing

Image
I present to you an amazing amoeba mashup. This is a beautiful grouping of distinct biomorphic (abstract round) shapes that have no meaning This drawing is an exercise in fun, joy and intimate solitude. Visualized Form Inspired by Mexican Folk Art

Paisley Loop Design

Image
I can't get enough of this decorative paisley shape. I first encountered it in Hungary when I visited for an art residency in 2003. Somehow it's stuck in my memory. Love, Cynthia ❤️ See more art at:  https://w ww.cynthiamosser.com Hey! 20% off any print order! Use code: SAVE20

The Symbolism of Eggs

Image
According to the art history book, Dictionary of Subjects & Symbols in Art by James Hall, eggs represent a symbol of creation. This came to be associated with spring festivals of revival and rebirth, and later with Easter. It's definitely a Christian symbol of the Resurrection. Now I am not a religious person, but I do love the idea of revival (spring) and rebirth (renewal). Love, Cynthia ❤️ See more illustrations, some of eggs, at www.cynthiamosser.com/illustrations
