I love what Andrew Goldstein says about painting (in his interview with Hans Ulrich):

However, when it comes to the market, painting remains the paramount seller because it is, at the end of the day, a remarkably efficient piece of technology. It packs maximum visual power while taking up a minimum of three-dimensional space. No electricity is needed. It’s easily portable, universally readable, effortlessly Instagrammable, and, in some cases, easily resalable.

In 2006, I had my first show at the Augen Gallery in Portland, Oregon (my first actual gallery shows were at the Marghitta Feldman Gallery 2003-2005) in Portland. I was 36, and was THRILLED to be in such a great gallery that championed my work. I worked my ass off, made art 6 days a week, and taught at the Art Institute of Portland, and my art was reviewed by Richard Speer in ArtNEWS Magazine! I had many shows afterward, sold a lot of art, connected with individuals and then it ran its course. Hands & Leaves as a Reminder to Play

As a young child, I creatively adjusted myself so that nobody really knew what I liked. It was a way to stay under the radar, so as not to rock the boat in my family. I also didn't even really know how to play. Now I know how to express myself and play, but it's taken some time. My colorful work is a reflection of play and how play is also possible for you too.
