Visualized Form Inspired by Mexican Folk Art

Image
Sometimes at night I visualize a shape or form I would like to work on the next day. In this case, I visualized this. The Mexican folk art decoration a bonus. Love, Cynthia ❤️ Have you considered buying a print of my work? See possibilities at: www.cynthiamosser.com

Doubleback Twister Painting

Image
This painting is called "Doubleback Twister," and comes from my love of all shapes biological. I also adore color and forms that float or connect in space. I was a biology minor in college, and I loved looking through the microscope. Looking at cells was like another world! Work in Progress ("Swim Puff {swoop} 2")

Image
Titled "Swim Puff (swoop) 2", this mixed media painting still a WIP (work in progress). I have yet to incorporate some finishing touches, as well as add the clear encaustic layer on top. It's 20 x 21 inches. Thought I would share the progress. Have a colorful day! Cynthia ❤️ See more Swim Puff paintings on my website at: www.cynthiamosser.com/swim-puffs

Paisley Loop Design

Image
I can't get enough of this decorative paisley shape. I first encountered it in Hungary when I visited for an art residency in 2003. Somehow it's stuck in my memory. Love, Cynthia ❤️ See more art at:  https://w ww.cynthiamosser.com Hey! 20% off any print order! Use code: SAVE20

Design Inspired by a Mexican Folk Art Mug

Image
The other day I was looking at a Mexican-designed coffee mug I bought from Tubac, Arizona. This mug has this blue design all over it, which reminds me of a burrito succulent (sedum morganianum). I have no idea what this represents below. What should I title it? Love, Cynthia❤️ See more folk art-inspired illustrations at: www.cynthiamosser.com/illustrations

A Painting Inspired by Straznice, CZ

Image
In 2005, my Czech friends took me to this beautiful town in Southern Moravia called Straznice. I had never seen anything like it: They paint flowers on buildings, and have a yearly folk festival! The colors they most often use on buildings are red, green, blue and yellow. When I returned to the USA, I decided to make a painting called "Folk Twister", which represented the feeling of being in this town. Love, Cynthia ❤️ See this painting on my website at: https://www.cynthiamosser.com/store/art_print_products/folktwister-mosser?product_gallery=18790&product_id=1277394

The Symbolism of Eggs

Image
According to the art history book, Dictionary of Subjects & Symbols in Art by James Hall, eggs represent a symbol of creation. This came to be associated with spring festivals of revival and rebirth, and later with Easter. It's definitely a Christian symbol of the Resurrection. Now I am not a religious person, but I do love the idea of revival (spring) and rebirth (renewal). Love, Cynthia ❤️ See more illustrations, some of eggs, at www.cynthiamosser.com/illustrations
