  When I visited in Vienna in 2004, I picked up this doily from a café. I was served a coffee and soda water on a silver oval tray, and underneath was this oval doily. I was absolutely in love. Maybe it was the oval, which is like an egg. Maybe it was the feminine lace-like quality, or maybe it was the the dedication to a superfluous drink tray enhancement. It didn't matter. This spoke to me, and I've kept it in my studio ever since. Sometimes you find inspiration from other designers. In this case, Enrique Gillet's work inspired me. Designs from the 1920's book Vines Decorativas shows gorgeous Art Nouveau work, and I love anything that incorporates design and plant-like elements. Have a great day. Inspiration can come at the most unusual times, and from the greatest things. This image is an excerpt from a 40 year-old paper turkey my mother-in-law brought to our Thanksgiving gathering. I love the colors, the overlapping feather design, and their outline. Who knew an old turkey could be in alignment with what I love looking at? Where do you find inspiration?
