Oval Viennese Doily

Image
When I visited in Vienna in 2004, I picked up this doily from a café. I was served a coffee and soda water on a silver oval tray, and underneath was this oval doily. I was absolutely in love. Maybe it was the oval, which is like an egg. Maybe it was the feminine lace-like quality, or maybe it was the the dedication to a superfluous drink tray enhancement. It didn't matter. This spoke to me, and I've kept it in my studio ever since. Doily Drawing in Blue & What I Stand For

Image
A friend of mine recently asked me what I stood for. I already knew the answer: I stand for BEAUTY -- how the BEAUTY in my art may help others experience joy and healing. This piece is the sixth in a series titled OVERLAPPING DOILIES. I adore doilies and what they do. They provide a beautiful foundation for an object, whether it be animate or inanimate. I love their feminine, decorative qualities. So here's my question for you: What do you stand for? Love, Cynthia ❤️ See my illustrations on my website, and if you could, I would love to know your thoughts on how they could be used commercially: www.cynthiamosser.com/illustrations

Overlapping Doilies Again!

Image
Decorated ovals seem to be my thing as of late. It's fun to see how I can make each one different, while making a coherent composition. I would love to make a printmaking plate for each doily, and printed them in various arrangements. I"ll keep you posted on this. Love, Cynthia ❤️ Illustrations like these can be found on my website at: www.cynthiamosser.com/illustrations #cynthiamosser #illustrations #doilies #doily #overlappingovals

Doilies & Martha Stewart

Image
Since I am a great fan of the delicate and lacy nature of doilies, I love the December 2008 Martha Stewart Magazine issue featuring none other than a variety of these intricate creations. Image source: Martha Stewart Magazine
