Smiley faces are something I have always loved playing around with. As a child, I sketched them in my notebook. My math teacher even scolded me, more than once, for putting them in the margins of my homework. Now I can make as many as I desire. We (I) like to move forward, to see that things are heading in a positive direction and that goals are on track. Without this progress, frustration ensues, which is what I am seeing in our culture right now, and even within myself. Some of my own progress has been thrown out the window, obvs, but I am finding what internal changes that have to be made, where I can experience gratitude, and also where I can be of service. What I can do now is focus on what I can control, and that is my studio practice. Painting is one aspect of a studio practice. Another is organizing the studio, and making it as efficient as possible. Right now that involves creating cardboard boxes for my original art...so that is my current state of progress, and I am grateful for it.     What is New? September is About Renewal

Image
Hey, there! Below is my September newsletter. I would like to acknowledge that there are uncomfortable aspects going on in the world right now. My art is about remaining positive and focusing on abundance and the gold we find in the ashes. So here it is... SEPTEMBER IS RENEWAL Let's call it what it is...     So summer appears to be over (or is it?), and the kids have gone back to virtual school. When September 1st happens, I think to myself (even panic), "Oh God! It's September!" But what does this really mean? I believe it's a month where I have the opportunity to renew myself, or even to start over. Sure, spring is generally associated with renewal, but let's get real, we all know September is the time where we feel like we have to get our act together. So what is my act?  Here is my act that actually MOVES THE NEEDLE: 1. Call interior designers of new construction 2. Contact healthcare interior designers 3. Contact licensing companies Guess what? I have ...

View this email in your browser BLUE & SKETCHY These are just that...         These three blue drawings stem from my walks in the woods. Thanks to the gyms being closed, I have been treated myself to weekly hikes. What struck me initially, after my first or second hike, is the LUSH forest floor greenery: Ferns, clover, moss. Instead being harsh or spiny, they are soft, feminine, and delicate. This tenderness is absolutely appeals to me. Looking at beautiful things -- hikes are included in this idea -- is very important. Gorgeous leaf and floral shapes somehow emblazon themselves in my mind and manifest themselves in drawing form. I am an absolute believer in what you look at affects you, which is why I surround myself with aesthetically pleasing objects in my environment. Marie Condo really IS onto something... May 2020: Leaves, a French Chemist and Organizing: A Newsletter

View this email in your browser What a Blast! Organizing, organizing, organizing   Not every day, but most days I have been organizing my business and cataloging my art work. Although this isn't super exciting (or fun, really) it has been immensely satisfying to stop for a minute and enter just about every art work I have ever created into a cloud-based website called ArtWork Archive. I certainly COULD have made this happen without the slowdown/closure, but the data entry involved is soooo extensive (titles, sizes, prices, categories), that I am not sure I would have made time. I am exceptionally thrilled and grateful for the pause to allow this to happen! If you'd like to see the website where I cataloged my work, my ArtWork Archive public profile is:   https://www.artworkarchive.com/profile/cynthia-mosser   What is New? Hiking! YEAH! I have rediscovered my love for hiking over the past month. Being outside, exercising and looking at na...
